“A community can flourish only when it’s most vulnerable are treated with compassion and dignity and when effective methods and resources are applied to restore their mental and physical wellbeing.”
- Chris Farrelly, Auckland City Missioner
The Auckland City Mission stands together with those in desperate need. We provide immediate relief and pathways to enable long-term wellbeing.
For nearly 100 years we have been adapting our services to care for those who have nobody left to turn to - from our early days supporting shell-shocked returning soldiers and families whose fathers didn’t return from war, to helping people living with HIV/AIDS, to today, where our focus is on proactively managing homelessness to make it rare, brief and non-reoccurring; reducing hunger and improving health.
This is a transformational time for the Auckland City Mission as we embark on new and innovative solutions, services and partnerships. The construction of our new home on Hobson Street has started; we are managing the James Liston Hostel and providing residential services; we are using the latest research into food insecurity to change the way we respond to hunger; and we are expanding our healthcare services.
Our values of manaakitanga, manatika (justice) and rangapu (partnership) drive everything we do from our culture to our service design.
Reasons to work with us:
We are a friendly team and aim to create an environment that is open and honest - where people feel valued and can also have fun.
It is important to us that people grow personally from their experiences while being part of our team. If you join us you will not only be part of an awesome team, you will be entitled to great benefits and opportunities to support and develop you.
